Evan Jones, our Quill editor, invites submissions from members. You can contact Evan at quill@stc-soc.org. Here are some story ideas to get those creative juices flowing:
- software tool review (how improved is Word 2007)
- book review (software tool, dictionary, style guide, programming language, documentation processes, anything having to do with technical communication)
- conference or seminar review (what topics did you learn about, how dynamic was the speaker)
- current trends in technical communication (plain English, wordless)
- current job market for technical communicators (flat, decling, improving)
- case study of how you or your team solved a particular communication problem (were you up against a tight deadline, did you use conditional text to reuse content, have you migrated to a content management system, did you use XML)
- tips and tricks using a software tool (better ways of making lists in Word, using DITA in Structured FrameMaker)
- jokes, limericks, crosswords, things that make you go "Hmm"
