The Editor's Message

Happy Hallowe'en!

This issue of The Quill is coming to you a little later than planned.

It's my first issue as The Quill editor, and I didn't give myself as much lead time as it turns out I needed. Still, it's out nearly a week before our November general meeting (and well in advance of our December general meeting).

I am very grateful to Margie--and those who came before her--for having everything so organized. While it took me some extra time to collect all the articles and biography information I needed, assembling the issue went quite smoothly.

About me

I have a degree in Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and a degree in Education from the University of Western Ontario. Upon graduating (way back when), I decided that, while teenagers one-on-one are delightful people, I couldn't face whole classrooms of them. Instead, I started my career as a computer programmer. From there, I got into technical training both in a classroom setting and through distance (online) education. I found myself enjoying the writing aspects of the job more than the programming parts, and made the formal switch to technical communication in 2004. I am currently on sabbatical from the paid workforce, and enjoying having more time at home with her my two children.

About you

What do you want to see in The Quill? Do you have expertise you'd like to share in a Quill article? I look forward to hearing from you!
