The Editor's Message

Happy “New” Year. Or should that be Happy New “Year”? Or maybe even “Happy” New Year?

Does the incorrect and unnecessary use of quotation marks frustrate you as much as it does me? The fact that you're receiving The Quill makes me think it probably does.

If I'm right, you'll enjoy a visit to Bethany Keeley's “Blog” of “Unnecessary” Quotation Marks at quotation-marks.blogspot.com.

Started in 2005, this blog posts photos of signs, advertising, and even aprons that use quotation marks inappropriately, usually with comedic results. Some of the Greatest Hits (links in the rightmost column of the blog--scroll down a bit) had me laughing until tears came to my eyes.

I hope you'll “enjoy” this issue of The Quill.

As always, I'm happy to hear your suggestions for articles, and to (try to) answer your questions or address your concerns about The Quill. Drop me a line at quill@stc-soc.org.
