Upcoming Chapter Meetings

As details about the following meetings are finalized, they will posted on our website (http://www.stc-soc.org) under Calendar.

February

There are three potential topics being discussed for our February general meeting taking place on Wednesday, February 13 instead of the first Tuesday of the month. Unfortunately, the descriptions that we received for this meeting all sound so good that we cannot decide which one to choose.

For now, here are a few highlights about the speaker, Nicky Bleiel, who is coming from Pittsburgh for our meeting:

• Technical communicator for more than 12 years.
• Associate Fellow of the STC.
• Speaker at local, regional, and international levels on topics that cover various tools and technologies, user assistance design, single sourcing, and wikis for knowledge management.
• At-Large Director of the STC.

With a speaker like this, how can the meeting be anything but great?

March

For those of you involved in translation, this is the meeting for you. We will have two speakers to provide two perspectives. One speaker is a technical communicator, who sends documents to a translator, and the other is the person who does the translation.

April

Our April meeting promises to be a more social event, where we can talk and get to know each other better. We will also be giving out some awards. If you have not come to one of these events, you are missing the opportunity to meet a lot of new people, and the opportunity to network. With so many technical communicators working at different places, there is no better way to see what different businesses have to offer. Who knows, people you meet may remember you when an opening comes up at their businesses. You don't want to miss the opportunity for a potential referral!
