Well, it is the social event of the year for our chapter. Each year we look forward to this event so that we can network, and recognize people's achievements. When is the meeting?Date: Tuesday, April 1, 2008. Where is the meeting? The meeting is at the University of Waterloo in the Davis Centre (Room DC 1301). For those of you who are familiar with the university, it is the Fishbowl—the room with the glass walls. Why should you come?If you are interested in finding out more about the technical communication field, you will find a variety of people who can answer your questions and tell you about what the benefits are of being in this field. If you are considering contract work, but are unsure of how to proceed, there are several different people who can help you. For some of you, you may be interested in seeing what fields you might get into as a technical communicator. By the way, did I mention there is great food and drink, and it is free? What will happen when you get there? In addition to networking and gathering information, we will recognize those people who are the best of the best. There was a technical publication and online competitions this year that was a co-ordinated effort between our chapter and the Toronto Chapter. If you want to find out who has talent, then you want to see who won awards in that competition. If you participated in the competition, then come to our general meeting and receive the recognition that you deserve. We also have awards to present to the top three people who entered our Student Awards competition. Those students who submitted their entries should be proud of themselves, because they met very specific requirements. These are very special students. Where can you find out more?If you have any questions about this meeting, please send an email to president@stc-soc.org. You may also want to mark the description of this meeting as one of your favourites in your browser so you will have an easy point of reference. Don't miss out on the opportunity to learn and laugh. When they go together you can't ask for anything more-except when there is free food involved. What about other meetings? With the cancellation of the March meeting about translation, there
will be two meetings in May. Watch our calendar for details.
